What inspired you to start creating your work?
Clay By Clark started during Covid. I am from Canada originally and right before Covid, I married my husband who lived in Michigan. Due to the immigration process and Covid, I was unable to work and knew I needed to find a hobby. I started my Polymer Clay Earrings and immediately fell in love. I never thought I was very artsy but finding Polymer Clay introduced me to my artistic side that I never knew I needed to find.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
Being able to create my own designs and the uniqueness that comes from each pair. Making Polymer Clay Earrings is my creative outlet.
Share one interesting thing about the items you create.
A common misconception about Polymer Clay Earrings is that people often times think they will be heavy because it is made from clay. They are actually extremely lightweight and you can't even tell that you're wearing them. It is not like traditional clay that you bake in a kiln. Polymer Clay goes right into a traditional oven and has almost a plastic like texture when it's done. A lot of people also don't realize that from start to finish, it can be a 3 hour process to make one pair of earrings from color mixing, conditioning the clay, putting all the small details in, baking, sanding and assembly, there's a lot of love that goes into making each pair.
