Lisa is the creator behind 'Lil Ninja Crafting'. "I have always loved gnomes and my obsession with them has grown over the years. During this past year I have been fortunate enough to be given the time to discover what makes me happy and try something that I probably wouldn’t have if I was still working a full time job. Being blessed to spend a month in Maine with friends, I was able to start creating gnomes “just for fun” at first...which then turned into me thinking I should try my hand at some craft shows and see what happens. Since October 2020, I have been able to see my gnomes come to life with personality and find a lot of great new homes." The Gnomes that Lil Ninja creates are one of a kind, unique, and full of personality....just like you!
Why did you decide to partner with Yellow Door? I grew up in Berkley and always loved the store. It's nice that they showcase a large variety of local artists, everyone different and unique. How long have you been creating for? I have been making my gnomes since October 2020. What makes your work unique or distinctive? Each gnome is hand-crafted. Once they are completed with their accessories, they come to life with their own personality
What inspired you to tart creating and how did you turn it into a business? I have always loved gnomes, my obsession with them has grown over the years. Since October 2020, I have been able to see my gnomes come to life with personality and find a lot of great new homes. What do you enjoy most about the creative process? I love the fact that I can watch each gnome come to life slowly, from the fabrics to the accessories that I choose. How about what you like least about the business side of creating and selling? Actually, I can't complain about anything yet, it's all too new!
Quotes you love or live by:
"I always feel happy. You know why? Because I don’t expect anything from anyone. Expectations always hurt. Life is short. So love your life. Be Happy and keep smiling. Just live for yourself and before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, Earn. Before you pray, forgive. Before you hurt, feel. Before you hate, love. Before you quit, try. Before you die, live." -Shakespeare
"What you are afraid to do is a clear indication of the next thing you need to do." -Ralph Waldo Emerson Your favorite places to frequent around Detroit:
