Meet Chris & Aiden Young

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

Young and Son's Homemade is created by the father and son duo of Chris and Aiden Young. They specialize in creating small-batch, all natural hair and skin products at a fair price. Their products also include original wall clocks, woodworking, and 3-D print design.

Why did you choose to partner with Yellow Door to sell your artwork?

We're artists. We're Michigan. We're Berkley. Seemed like a great fit. Oh, and have you seen the other artists in there? They're amazing...

How long have you been creating your artwork?

Young & Son's Homemade had been around for just over 3 years now.

What makes your work unique or distinctive?

We make everything as a family.

What inspired you to start creating your artwork and how did you turn it into a business?

I had grown my beard out for over a year and was looking for beard products at CVS. They were ultra-expensive for what you got and many had chemicals I had never heard of. I decided to do my own research and ended up refining my own beard oil blend and then a balm. It's taken off. I also wanted to involve my oldest son. Aiden helps to mix the products, bottle them and he helps with scents, logo and packaging. This is really for him. I have the confidence that he can change the world when he gets older and I want to help pave the path for him.

What do you love the most about the creative process?

We get to experiment, try new things, and improve on what we've done.

What do you least love about the business side of creating and selling? Pricing!!! I hate having to charge for our products. I love giving them away when I can. We're obviously not in this for the money. We like to see and hear people enjoy the products that we make together. We do need to cover costs and feed Aiden's tortoise...

You can find more of Chris & Aiden's products on their website here and look for them on Facebook here and Instagram in the near future.
